Krewe da Bhan Gras presents Mississippi Masala & Aye, Bua
Mississippi Masala is presented by Krewe da Bhan Gras in partnership with The Broad. Krewe da Bhan Gras' mission is to help unite New Orleans’ South Asian diaspora and foster a sense of community and pride, celebrate its many nationalities, religions, diverse experiences, gender identities and sexual orientations, and contribute to the inclusive spirit of Mardi Gras. Or as we say, add our masala to the mix. This screening will be preceded by the short film "Aye, Bua" from New Orleans' own Samia Rahman and Story Stream. Aye, Bua takes us into the bustling streets and quiet corners of Dhaka to intimately follow Rehana, a housemaid whose spirit and optimism radiate from a place society often disregards. Through her candid storytelling, Rehana offers a rare glimpse into her world, inviting us to see life through her eyes.
In Mississippi Masala, the vibrant cultures of India, Uganda, and the American South are blended and simmered into a rich and fragrant fusion feast in Mira Nair's luminous look at the complexities of love in the modern melting pot.DramaPT1H58M2026-01-17Denzel Washington
